Currently one in five children in Michigan worry about hunger and 300,000 school-aged children are eligible for free or reduced school lunch. Often times these children will have less to eat at home during the weekend or during school breaks. Meal assistance is a crucial service to families in the Metro Detroit area. Nearly 300,000 local kids rely on free or reduced-fee meals during the school year and often miss meals over the weekend. Ford Baby Formula Drive Donates $100,000 To Gleaners

Babies are adorable – and expensive, especially when it comes to formula and diapers. On Thursday, May 7, Gleaners Community Food Bank will host a rally to mark the start of its 23rd Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Gleaners Exceeds Fundraising Goal for Million Meal Match

Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan raised more $420,000 for its Million Meal Match campaign. That translates into more than 1.2 million meals for hungry kids. During the Million Meal Match campaign, all donations are matched by Gleaners’ partners. This means that every dollar you donate will now feed six hungry kids.
