Why the Midtown Starbucks closing may be a bigger story

So the story we broke of the Starbucks at Mack and Woodward in Detroit closing has gone locally semi-viral. The response revealed a number of things at play that we're digging into, ranging from what appear to be very unsafe conditions for employees to a lack of mental health services. The Porter Burks case, explained (ft. Vince Colella)

While Porter Burks was in mental crisis, the 22 year old black man was shot 19 times by Detroit Police on the city’s west side on October 2, 2022. Police allege he was carrying a knife and went for officers. But video of the incident shows a lot of distance between Burks and the police.
