Hamilton (the Musical) is More Interesting Than the Hamilton You Learned About in School

Every word on the street you’ve heard is right – this show is sensational. This musical was on par with Les Miserables and Rent. If History was taught like this in high school, there would be less sleeping and more celebrating. It mixes the facts of history with the musical beats of today. From the opening scene, your patriotism grows as does your lyrical interpretation. It’s difficult not to become enthralled in the journey that is the founding of our country. Although the stag...

Vespa Dealership to Pop-Up in the Fisher Building

A pop-up Vespa dealer is opening in the Fisher Building. The Joe Ricci Automotive Group opened the scooter dealership Thursday. It’s displaying Vespa models in the Fisher Building’s Arcade lobby, with the Peacock Room as its showroom. Shoppers can get information about the motorized scooters and sign up for a test drive with a $10 donation to the Michigan Humane Society. Ricci says the pop-up gives him an opportunity to test drive the concept of a full-blown Vespa dealership in the city....

Historic Fisher Building Will Host Flint Eastwood's "Broke Royalty" Record Release Party April 14

The Fisher Building has always been beautiful, but it might be turning into one of the more interesting multipurpose places for fun in the city. Sure, it’s always had the Fisher Theatre, but the lobby of the Fisher Building recently hosted a halfpipe for skateboarders, and in the past fashion shows. Now, Daily Detroit gets word that none other than Flint Eastwood will be having their record release party there. Hot off a successful South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin this year, the record re...

Some of Detroit’s tallest buildings also are home to some of Detroit’s most amazing birds. The Fisher Building, the AT&T building and others have nests for these birds that almost vanished from the United States east of the Mississippi in the late 1960s due to the effects of DDT. Here’s a video shared with Daily Detroit by the person who shot it, commercial real estate broker Benji Rosenzweig who had a special encounter with the bird. We’ve uploaded it with his permission. Their populations...

15 Photos Of Detroit's Largest Art Object, The Fisher Building

Take a look at one of America’s most beautiful buildings. Today we wandered around the majestic Fisher Building. Built in 1928, it was (and in many ways still is) the epitome of Michigan craftsmanship. Built as the headquarters to the Fisher body company, inventors of the closed-top car, it contains one of Detroit’s best theatres, various stores, offices, and even radio stations (WJR-AM 760 and WDVD 96.3). Designed by noted architect Albert Kahn, the attention to detail is stunning. It is...
